Foreigners with 3 doses of Covid-19 vaccines traveling to Chile will be exempted from presenting the PCR test. New regulations were also announced for those arriving with connecting flights

The Government of Chile announced new measures to make the Protected Frontiers Plan more flexible, which will make it possible to enter the country more expeditiously, maintaining, in any case, health security for the protection of the national population.

Thus, as of December 1, the four airports that are currently enabled to enter the country -Santiago, Iquique, Antofagasta and Punta Arenas- will be added three land border crossings, through which both Chilean and foreign residents will be able to enter. as non-resident foreigners in the country. It is about Chacalluta, in the Arica and Parinacota Region; Colchane, in the Tarapacá Region; and Pino Hachado, in the Region of La Araucanía. A month later, that is, on January 1, the Los Libertadores (Valparaíso), Cardenal Samoré (Los Lagos) and Río don Guillermo (Magallanes) passes will also be enabled.

What entry requirements must people who arrive in Chile meet? As explained by the Undersecretary of Public Health, Paula Daza, all Chilean and resident foreigners, non-resident foreigners with their vaccines previously validated by the Ministry of Health, non-resident foreigners who meet some exceptional requirement of the Decree 102 of the Ministry of the Interior, and all children under 6 years of age regardless of their nationality or vaccination status.

All people who enter Chile, from the age of two and regardless of their nationality, must have a PCR test with a negative result from the country of origin, taken a maximum of 72 hours before the trip. In addition, these travelers must complete the affidavit available on the website  www.c19.cl

Non-resident foreigners must also have a medical insurance of 30 thousand dollars that covers disease associated with Covid-19 and their vaccination process approved by the Ministry of Health.

The new measures announced by the Executive provide facilities for people who have three doses of vaccines against SARS-CoV-2.

Therefore, all those people who enter the country - regardless of their nationality - who have a booster dose applied in the last 6 months prior to the trip, which is registered and validated in their Mobility Pass, may be exempted from the PCR test or antigens to be taken upon entering Chile, as well as the previously established isolation period.

The process of homologation and validation of vaccines, as reported today by the Government authorities, will be less prolonged than it was to date and will inform the applicant, at the time of initiating the process, the maximum deadline for delivery of the homologation.

Meanwhile, people who have a Mobility Pass, but do not have a booster dose in the last 6 months, should be tested at the point of entry into the country and perform isolation until their result is negative. The cost of this exam must be paid by the passenger himself.

People who do not have their vaccines validated, regardless of their nationality, in addition to the diagnostic test upon entry to Chile, must undergo a five-day quarantine even if the result of their PCR test is negative. This test includes boys and girls from 2 years old.

In the case of boys and girls under 6 years of age who travel with a family group whose vaccination scheme is validated, with or without booster doses, they will have to perform isolation only until the negative result of their examination upon entering the country.

Connecting flights
Another of the announcements made this morning relates to those passengers who enter Chile by air and who must carry out connecting flights. For these cases, from the first day of December, these people will no longer have to wait for the result of the PCR test at the airport to board the connecting flight, but will be able to wait for it at the destination address that they have informed in the affidavit.
