At the conclusion of the 45th edition of the Tianguis Turístico México, which was held in Mérida today, the Secretary of Tourism of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, announced the preliminary results of this business meeting.

Accompanied by the governor of Yucatán, Mauricio Vila Dosal, the secretary Torruco Marqués reported that in this 2021 Tourist Tianguis, the first inclusive, all the goals were exceeded, making history with 1,635 buyers, compared to the figure of 2017, in the edition 42, in which a thousand 608 were reported and was the highest registered; Likewise, the number of companies was also higher, reaching the participation of 1,117, also surpassing those of the same year.

He added that 43 countries were present, attended by 3,492 exhibitors from 936 companies, also surpassing the historical figures of Acapulco 2019, with 3,408 exhibitors from 851 companies in this area.

Regarding the number of registered appointments, the head of the Ministry of Tourism assured that they were 57 thousand 287, without considering those who attended directly, also surpassing the 2019 mark, which was 47 thousand 378 appointments.

Regarding the preliminary sales volume, voluntarily reported by 17 percent of the participating companies, it was reported that they amounted to 598 million pesos.

He explained that the 6 products most offered by exhibitors were: Nature Tourism, with 58 percent; Cultural Tourism, 57 percent; Gastronomic Tourism, 55 percent; Adventure Tourism, 50 percent; Sun and Beach, 41 percent; and Romance Tourism, 37 percent.

"This demonstrates and supports the direction of the current administration's tourist policy, focused on the integration, regionalization and diversification of a product that responds to the tastes and expectations of a more informed and demanding tourist, with a different profile as a result of the pandemic, ”he said.

He added that the 10 most requested destinations, according to the survey carried out, were: Cancun, with 28 percent; Riviera Maya, 18 percent; Merida, 16 percent; Mexico City and Los Cabos, 15 percent each; Acapulco, 14 percent; Oaxaca and Puerto Vallarta, 13 percent; the Magical Towns, 11 percent; and Guadalajara, with 10 percent.

Regarding the evaluation of the exhibitors' profiles by buyers, 60 percent rated them as Excellent; In the Tianguis evaluation, 56 percent of the attendees rated it as Excellent and 28 percent as Very Good.

Secretary Torruco Marqués specified that the final result of this 45th edition will be positively reflected in the course of 2022, especially in attracting foreign currency and per capita spending, by including and putting into operation new and attractive products that both the Federation, as states and municipalities, they are developing.

Recalling that last night the post office pass was formalized, which was received by Governor Vila Dosal, thanked his support for the joint work to bring with excellent results the 45th edition of the Tourist Tianguis, as well as the Secretary of Tourism of the entity , Michelle Fridman.

“The post was transferred to the governor of the state of Guerrero, Evelyn Salgado Pineda. We are sure that with his capacity and vision, and with the support of the mayor of Acapulco, Abelina López Rodríguez, we will achieve a successful Tianguis Turístico, Acapulco 2022 ”, he said.

At the beginning, he recognized the municipal president of Mérida, Renán Barrera Concha, for having had the Inclusive Tourism stand.

Also in the presidium were Humberto Hernández-Haddad, Undersecretary of Quality and Regulation of the Ministry of Tourism; Michelle Fridman, secretary of Tourism Development of the state; and Rodrigo Hurtado, director of International Fairs at CREA.
