In the arrival of international tourists, Colombia, when compared to other countries, has achieved the greatest reactivation in South America (30.2%)

With the presence of the National Government, speakers of international stature, Travel Agencies, operators, airlines, transport companies, accommodation and lodging establishments, Tourist guides, Tourist representation offices, among other actors in the sector, the second version of the National Meeting of Receptive Tourism of ANATO, in Medellín.

“The event was the propitious setting to establish the challenges and opportunities of tourism. Although it is necessary to look back at the impact that the pandemic brought us, it is essential to look forward, understand that there is a long way to go and that there are numerous actions that we can undertake together, those of us who are part of this industry, ”said Paula Cortés Calle , executive president of ANATO.

Within the framework of the event, the union leader enunciated some aspects that have promoted the interest of tourists to return to travel. One of them is the direct relationship between vaccination processes and confidence for reactivation, because although air connectivity and international restrictions are key, the advance in the percentages of vaccinated population favors tourist reactivation.

Another of them is related to the reactivation of Colombia in the arrival of international tourists, since when comparing the situation with other countries, it reached, between January and July 2021, the highest figure in Latin America with 30.2%.

For his part, Gilberto Salcedo, Vice President of Tourism at ProColombia stressed that sustainability and technology are important pillars of tourism and that in the future they are not a trend but a requirement.

"These training spaces help sector actors bring to their companies knowledge regarding sustainability, cultural, rural and social tourism, and manage to generate an innovative, differential and impact tourism product", concluded Paula Cortés Calle.
