In the Santo Tomás de Castilla port, the Seven Seas Explorer boat arrived, with which the return of cruises from the Guatemalan green Caribbean side officially began for the 2021-2022 season. This ship sailed on November 15 from the port of Miami, United States.
From this terminal, visitors have the opportunity to visit tourist attractions such as: Quiriguá, Río Dulce canyon, Livingston, Castillo de San Felipe, Las Escobas trail, Bahía de Amatique, among others, as well as taste the exquisite gastronomy of the town. .
While the cruise ships that dock on the Pacific side, they can visit La Antigua Guatemala and its surrounding towns, Lake Atitlán, coffee farms, macadamia, the Pacaya Volcano, Iximché among others. From both ports, by air, it is also possible to visit the Tikal National Park.
For the current season that began in November 2021 and will end in May 2022, the arrival of 48 cruise ships is expected.

According to the INGUAT Market Research and Analysis statistics, the previous season 2019-2020, registered the arrival of 93,356 cruise passengers with an average expenditure of US $ 179.99 with the arrival of 72 vessels, leaving the Guatemalan economy between the purchase of tourist packages, handicrafts, clothing, jewelry, food, drinks among others, around US $ 16.80 million. According to estimates, for the 2021-2022 season, around 55,000 cruise passengers will be arriving in Guatemala with more than 30,000 crew members on board.
On November 2, the Celebrity Millennium boat docked in Escuintla, where government authorities declared the cruise season for the country inaugurated, after the pandemic.
