Chile's meeting tourism network already has 70 ambassadors
The "Meet in Chile" program of the Undersecretariat of Tourism and Sernatur seeks to empower the country in the MICE segment
This morning at the Casa del Turismo, at the offices of the Undersecretary of Tourism and Sernatur, the ceremony was held to appoint ten new international ambassadors to promote meeting tourism in Chile.
With this initiative, which is part of the Meet in Chile program of the Undersecretariat of Tourism and Sernatur, the country has a network of seventy professionals who represent Chile to position it as a destination and venue for congresses, conventions and events of different specialties.
Andrea Wolleter, national director of Sernatur, who delivered the placards that designate the new ambassadors, said that “this instance of appointment of ambassadors and our Meet in Chile program have to do with the way in which we position our country as a destination meetings, but also as leaders on issues that are important, such as those represented by each of you. We have to do this work together, because we want to relieve their role as ambassadors for the development of events and conventions in our country ”.
On the occasion, the work of the new ambassadors was recognized in a ceremony in which the professionals who help to spread the attributes of Chile as an ideal destination for meetings tourism were recognized in the directories of international associations of which they are part.
The new meeting tourism ambassadors are Pablo Szmulewicz, from the International Network for Research and Development in Scientific Tourism; Gloria Aravena, from the International Organization of Aquatic Physiotherapy of the Chilean Society of Aquatic Therapy and Hydrokinesitherapy; Jorge Bevilacqua, from the Euro-Latin American Myology Group; Gonzalo Ferrer, from the Latin American Society of Arthroscopy, Knee and Sports Traumatology; Sebastián Court Benvenuto, from the Latin American Association of Subways and Subways (ALAMYS); Hernán Astudillo, from the Latin American Center for Computer Studies (CLEI); Andrés Álvarez, from the World Association of Tourist Journalists; Alejandro Buschmann, from the International Seaweed Association; Francisco Lanuza, from the Latin American Association of Buiatrics; and Ignacio Rodríguez Jorquera, from Latam SETAC.

The Undersecretariat of Tourism and Sernatur, through their Meet in Chile program, have promoted the generation of alliances with a total of seventy Chilean professionals and leaders from different areas to jointly promote Chile as a tourism destination of meetings worldwide.
Its objective is to raise awareness about the impact that meetings have on the society and economy of a destination and, consequently, for the city and the country.
The profile of the recently highlighted ambassadors implies that they are national personalities with international relevance who, from different areas, have a high level of convocation and interest in promoting Chile as a venue for international congresses and events.
In summary, an ambassador for meetings tourism is a person whose knowledge, professional stature and international influence in his field of action make him a natural representative of his country or city to work with members of the industry in this segment and attract events together.
