ANATO presents its projections of Colombian tourism for the end of the year
The Association estimates that the arrival of foreign visitors to the country at the end of the year will reach a reactivation of between 80% and 85%, and between 40% and 45% compared to 2019 by the end of 2021
For ANATO, 2021 was the opportunity to seek marketing alternatives, despite the fact that the year began with great uncertainty due to the second peak of the pandemic in Colombia and restrictive measures, in addition to aspects to which tourism is sensitive, such as the type of change, public order conditions, restrictions on air connectivity, among others.
“We are seeing a constant improvement in the sector's figures, therefore, from the Association, we consider that for the end of the year season and the end of 2021 the sector will present important progress towards its recovery, marked by the work of the National Government, the unions and, in general, of the actors in the sector ”, affirmed Paula Cortés Calle, executive president of ANATO.
Compared to the projections for the end of the year, ANATO, based on data from Migración Colombia, estimates that the holiday season (December 2021 and January 2022) will reach a reactivation of between 80% and 85% in the arrival of foreign visitors to the country , which would represent between 548 thousand and 582 thousand travelers. Therefore, 2021 is expected to close with a reactivation of between 40% and 45% compared to 2019, that is, between 1.8 and 2 million non-resident visitors.
Regarding the flow of Colombians abroad, the Association estimates a reactivation of between 95% and 98%, which indicates between 829 thousand and 855 thousand of nationals leaving the country during the end of the year season. Therefore, it is expected that by the end of 2021 a reactivation of between 65% and 70% will be reached compared to 2019, that is, between 2.9 and 3.1 million departures of Colombians.
“Tourism is a great driver of the economies of a country, so it is important to analyze how together we will continue to contribute to its growth. It is important that the rate of vaccination accelerates, as well as the total recovery of national and international routes and air frequencies, and that work continues on adapting the biosecurity measures of destinations and standardizing the requirements for the entry of the countries ", concluded the union leader.
