The Government of Spain, the Community of Madrid, the Madrid City Council, the World Tourism Organization, as well as the private sector, unanimously endorse the celebration on the scheduled dates
IFEMA MADRID reconfirms the dates of the International Tourism Fair between January 19 and 23. A decision that has been unanimously validated in a meeting called by the President of the IFEMA Executive Committee, José Vicente de los Mozos, and in which the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto; the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sports of the Community of Madrid, Marta Rivera de la Cruz; the Secretary of State for Tourism, Fernando Valdés; the Delegate Councilor for Tourism of the Madrid City Council, Almudena Maillo; the Advisor to the Secretary General of the UNWTO, Isabel Oliver, as well as the private sector represented by the President of the Organizing Committee of FITUR and IBERIA, Javier Sánchez-Prieto.
All the actors present at this meeting have agreed in stating that "the celebration of FITUR is the greatest guarantee of support to the tourism sector at a critical moment for its total reactivation and to recover the levels of activity and business prior to the pandemic. In January, once again from Spain and from Madrid, we will launch a hopeful and unequivocal signal of the potential of an industry that needs to return to normality in an activity that has shown its great strength in recent months ".
In the words of the President of the Executive Committee of IFEMA MADRID, José Vicente de los Mozos, “the unanimity that we have reached in a decision with a significant impact on boosting tourism activity is important, with the guarantee of organizing a great event that already demonstrated its capacity in the last edition and in a more delicate situation. This edition of FITUR is going to mark a turning point in tourism, and even more so at the start of a year in which great hopes have been placed for the global tourism business to take off. "
FITUR 2022 also has the support of the entire value chain of the tourism industry, as confirmed by the high representation, national and international, and figures that place the fair in parameters very close to those reached before the pandemic. Eight pavilions of the fairgrounds will be occupied, where all the Autonomous Communities will be represented, with a wide range of Spanish destinations, new companies, and a greater international presence. In total, FITUR will bring together around 100 countries with 70 official representations, led by the Dominican Republic, which this year is the FITUR Partner Country.
Rigorous security protocol
To guarantee the normal celebration of FITUR, IFEMA MADRID will reinforce sanitary controls and will take extreme measures of security. In this sense, and in a context marked by the high levels of vaccination registered by Spain, FITUR 2022 will require all participants from countries attached to the European digital COVID certificate, their presentation and, participants from third countries, the same requirement requested in border to obtain the QR Spain Health that allows entry into Spain.
It will also redeploy, as it did in the 2021 edition, a rigorous protocol of measures and systems to guarantee the safety of all exhibitors and visitors, which will be validated by the Ministry of Health of the Community of Madrid. Thus, it will carry out the capacity control in all the pavilions, with automated systems for counting people, and with an intelligent digital system for the analysis of spaces, capacity and behavior of attendees, controlling the crowds at all times, in addition to demanding the mandatory use of a mask inside the IFEMA MADRID facilities, and the temperature control controls that are implemented in all its fairs.
The application of strict protocols in the field of restoration will also be relevant, with a wide array of spaces for this purpose outside the enclosure.
Added to this is the provision in the IFEMA MADRID facilities of an advanced and powerful ventilation system that guarantees the elimination of air recirculation, its filtration and complete renewal every 20 minutes, which prevents the spread of pathogens. Measures that are complemented by the organization of the movement of people and the distribution of spaces to guarantee interpersonal safety distance; the distribution of hydroalcoholic gel dispensers and disinfectants throughout the premises, and the use of digital passes to avoid contact.
