The International Tourism Fair, FITUR 2022 will celebrate its 42nd edition, from January 19 to 23, taking a step forward aware of the need for tourism activity to regain its leadership as a lever for economic and social development, in a context key to recovery worldwide after the pandemic. FITUR 2022 in figures
The response to FITUR, as a whole, has been excellent, as revealed by the high national and international representation that this edition brings together with figures that place the fair in parameters very close to those reached before the pandemic. Eight pavilions of the fairgrounds will be occupied -3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10) that represent a net area of 56,700 m2 in which all the Autonomous Communities will be represented, with their wide range of Spanish destinations , new companies, and an important international presence with the participation of 107 countries, between destinations and companies, of which 70 attend with official representation. FITUR KNOW HOW & EXPORT, organized by SEGITTUR and with the collaboration of ICEX, will celebrate its tenth anniversary showing the innovative knowledge of the Spanish tourism industry, with special emphasis on the Smart Tourist Destinations strategy, with the aim of promoting innovation and sustainability in tourism and the internationalization of Spanish tourism SMEs

For its part, the FITUR NEXT Observatory dedicated to promoting good tourism practices in terms of sustainability, and which this year analyzes the contribution of tourism to an accessible society, will present the TUR4all, Albastar and COCEMFE initiatives, awarded in the three categories promoted in this edition: new technologies in pursuit of accessible tourism, tourist services and inclusive complementary offer and management and promotion of accessibility in the sector, respectively. Premios y reconocimientos
No faltarán los premios y reconocimientos con los que la IFEMA MADRID, FITUR y diversas entidades quieren destacar el esfuerzo para el desarrollo de la actividad turística en diferentes ámbitos. Entre ellos, y por segunda vez, FITUR, otorgará el Premio “Stand Sostenible”, organizado con la colaboración del Instituto de Turismo Responsable, ITR, con el fin de subrayar el esfuerzo de las empresas expositoras por hacer que su presencia en FITUR sea respetuosa con el medio ambiente y el cambio climático, contribuya a favorecer aspectos sociales y culturales, así como de referencia a cuestiones de gobernanza y economía. Además, la 23ª edición del Premio Tribuna FITUR-Jorge Vila Fradera, convocado en colaboración con la Asociación Española de Expertos Científicos en Turismo (AECIT), tiene el objetivo de mejorar la competitividad desde el conocimiento, y premiará un trabajo de investigación en materia de turismo para difundirlo entre el mundo académico. Como cada año, el sábado y domingo, días 22 y 23 de enero, FITUR abrirá sus puertas al público, que de esta manera tendrá la oportunidad de descubrir las propuestas que ofrecen los destinos y regiones de todo el mundo, y disfrutar, con totas las medidas de seguridad, de las actividades que ofrecen algunas de las secciones y stands de esta edición.
Riguroso protocolo de seguridad
Para garantizar la normal celebración de FITUR, IFEMA MADRID reforzará los controles sanitarios y extremará todas las medidas de seguridad. En este sentido, y en un contexto marcado por los altos niveles de vacunación que registra España, FITUR 2022 exigirá a todos los participantes que presenten al menos uno de los siguientes requisitos:
EU Covid Digital Certificate; QR Spain Travel Health; Negative PCR or Antigen test performed in the 24 hours prior to your first access to FITUR.
That is, citizens of European Union countries may present the EU Digital Certificate, as well as citizens who are or legally reside in a Member State and have the right to travel to other Member States; Also, citizens of countries and territories that have joined the EU Covid Digital Certificate.
On the other hand, Citizens of Third Countries not attached to this Certificate, will be required to enter FITUR the same requirement that, on the date, Spain requires to access the Country and that allows them to obtain the QR Spain Travel Health.
In the absence of at least one of these requirements, attendees will be asked to test negative COVID - PCR or Antigen Test - carried out within 24 hours prior to the start of their control at FITUR. These tests can be carried out at IFEMA MADRID thanks to the sanitary device deployed for this purpose.
A rigorous protocol of measures and systems to guarantee the safety of all exhibitors and visitors, validated by the Ministry of Health of the Community of Madrid, will also be deployed again, as was done in the 2021 edition. Thus, it will carry out the capacity control in all the pavilions, with automated systems for counting people, and with an intelligent digital system for the analysis of spaces, capacity and behavior of attendees, controlling the crowds at all times, in addition to demanding the mandatory use of a FFP2 mask to access FITUR, and the temperature control controls that are implemented in all its fairs.
Likewise, the application of strict protocols in the field of restoration will be relevant, with a wide array of spaces for this purpose outside the enclosure.
Added to this is the provision in the IFEMA MADRID facilities of an advanced and powerful ventilation system that guarantees the elimination of air recirculation, its filtration and complete renewal every 20 minutes, which prevents the spread of pathogens. Measures that are complemented with the organization of the movement of people and the distribution of spaces to guarantee interpersonal safety distance; the distribution of hydroalcoholic gel dispensers and disinfectants throughout the premises, and the use of digital passes to avoid contact.
