The Central American Tourism Promotion Agency (CATA) is preparing details of its participation together with the countries of the Central American isthmus and the Dominican Republic in the annual edition of the International Tourism Fair - FITUR - to promote a transformed region and open to international tourism with the greatest guarantees of health security.

The 42nd edition of FITUR will be held from January 19 to 23 in Madrid, Spain, constituting the first event of the year for professionals from the world tourism industry. This will be an incomparable meeting point to promote destinations, present new tourism products, as well as learn about the latest trends in the sector in light of COVID-19.

During 2021, CATA intensified its actions with the purpose of offering a comprehensive response that would guarantee the strengthening of the industry and the regeneration of trust in travellers. In this sense, the Agency arrives at FITUR 2022 with a firm commitment to recover ground and strengthen its communication with the international market by promoting unique destinations, novelties, and opportunities for tourism in Central America and the Dominican Republic.

Within the framework of the Fair, CATA also plans to foster positive approaches between different actors in world tourism, Central America and the Dominican Republic. In this sense, it will hold a press breakfast with the highest tourism authorities in the region and the media in Spain, one of CATA's main target markets.

In this space, it is expected to address aspects such as the opening of new routes to the region with the arrival of new airlines, as well as the progress in the execution of extraordinary plans and measures to accelerate the tourist reactivation, the current vaccination rate of destinations and the latest provisions to receive travelers from around the world.

FITUR 2022 will bring together a total of 6,933 participants with a presence from destinations in around 107 countries, 70 of them with official international representation, headed by the Dominican Republic, a full member country of CATA, which this year participates as a partner in the international fair, repr
