Key meeting of tourism authorities from Mexico and Spain prior to FITUR
The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico held a working meeting with the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism of Spain
On the first day of his tour in Madrid, Spain, to attend the Fitur International Tourism Fair, the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, held a working meeting with the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism of Spain, Maria Reyes Maroto Illera.
During the meeting, the agreements reached within the framework of the "Memorandum of Understanding in the Tourism Field" signed by both parties in January 2019, as well as the Addendum that was added in May of last year, which included the commitment to hold the Mexico-Spain Binational Tourism Forum annually.
This included the review of probable dates and the list of exhibitors that will participate in the Second Binational Forum 2022.
They also spoke about the celebration of the First International Tianguis de Pueblos Mágicos, which will take place from April 22 to 24 in Barcelona, to which Minister Reyes Maroto confirmed the presence of Spain by accepting the invitation made by Secretary Torruco Marqués. .
In addition, both delegations agreed to resume the exchange of promotional spaces, such as exhibitions in the Chapultepec gates, in Mexico City, as well as in the Retiro Park, in Madrid.
For her part, Minister Reyes Maroto Illera stressed that between Spain and Mexico there is an important exchange in terms of tourism and recognized the work that is done in our country in favor of the Magical Towns.
He pointed out that Mexico has taught Spain to expand its tourist attractions, which is why they are currently seeking to detonate and promote Rural Tourism, working on a program called Pueblos Bonitos. So it was proposed to carry out an exchange of experiences to enrich both programs, as part of the cooperation agreement between the two countries.
During the meeting, Secretary Torruco Marqués was accompanied by the Undersecretary of Tourism, Humberto Hernández-Haddad; Ambassador Óscar Esparza Vargas, Chargé d'Affaires of the Mexican Embassy in Spain; and the General Director of Promotion and International Affairs, Emmanuel Rey. While the Minister Reyes Maroto Illera was attended by Miguel Sanz Castedo, General Director of Turespaña; and Jorge Esteban Arlegui, adviser to the Cabinet of the Minister.
