The commitment to people and talent management, reinforced during the Covid-19 crisis, position the company as one of the best companies to work for in the tourism sector


Top Employers 2022, which recognizes companies for their talent management, has just been made public and has awarded its certification to Meliá Hotels International as one of the companies that contributes the most to excellence in the work environment in Spain, Mexico and the Dominican Republic, three countries that account for 46% of the group's total workforce.

This certification is recognition of the commitment to people that the company has shown in recent years, which has also coincided with the management of the Covid-19 crisis, in which its ability to anticipate and respond to the challenges of the environment translated mainly into the preservation of employment and talent, the creation of safe work environments, the training and reskilling of people and the cultural management of the change that the organizational and digital transformation of the company has entailed.

The Top Employers Institute program certifies the leading organizations in people practices in 123 countries, based on the participation and results obtained in its HR Best Practices Survey, which analyzes different areas of Human Resources. Meliá has been especially distinguished in areas such as Training, Commitment, Ethics & Integrity, Values ​​and Change Management. As the CEO of the hotel company, Gabriel Escarrer, has expressed, “the Covid-19 crisis has been the greatest challenge in the company's history and we would never have overcome it without the commitment and talent of our people. For this reason, this certificate reinforces our group's strategy based on placing people at the heart of our business, since they are the true soul of the company”.

In recent years, and in the wake of Covid-19, Meliá Hotels International has continued to deepen the culture of commitment, developing new lines of action to accompany its employees in the complex processes of change that the company is going through and which have been key to maintain internal reputation and pride of belonging. In addition, new spaces for communication and the exchange of internal knowledge, among others, have been consolidated. E-Meliá, the company's e-learning platform, has become a great engine of development for the group's employees during the pandemic, where training hours were increased by more than 75% during 2020 compared to last year.
