The Secretary of Tourism of the Federal Government, Miguel Torruco, informed that the expectations come from the Official Airline Guide (OAG)

The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, announced that, according to information from the Official Airline Guide (OAG), for this year the expectations of scheduled plane seats to Mexico is 31 million 986 thousand .

He indicated that this number of seats from the different regions of the world: North America, Europe, the Caribbean, Central and South America, and Asia, represents 26 percent more than what was scheduled in 2021, when 25 million 377 thousand seats were totaled.

He specified that of what is scheduled for 2022, North America participates with 24 million 894 thousand places, which represents 77.8 percent of the total. Of these, 22 million 718 thousand seats come from the United States, equivalent to 91.3 percent; and from Canada, 2 million 176 thousand, which gives it a participation of 8.7 percent. In second place is the Caribbean, Central and South American region, with 3 million 896 thousand seats, 12.2 percent of the total. The third place is occupied by the European region, with 2 million 877 thousand places, with 9 percent of the total; while the fourth position is for the Asian region, with 319 thousand seats, equivalent to one percent of the total.

Secretary Torruco Marqués pointed out that in the North American region the airlines with the most seats scheduled are: American Airlines, with 4,621,000; United Airlines, 4 million 95 thousand; Volaris, 3 million 19 thousand; Aeroméxico, 2 million 447 thousand; Delta Airlines, 2 million 377 thousand; Long live Aerobus, 1 million 480 thousand; Alaska Airlines, one million 260 thousand; Southwest Airlines, 973 thousand; Jet Blue Airways, 947 thousand; and Frontier Airlines, with 859 thousand seats. He added that, from North America, the destinations with the most scheduled seats are Cancun, with 7,960,000; Mexico City, 5 million 624 thousand; San José del Cabo, 2 million 610 thousand; Guadalajara, 2 million 604 thousand; Puerto Vallarta, 2 million 117 thousand; Monterrey, one million 99 thousand; Leon, 519 thousand; Morelia, 295 thousand; Cozumel, 279 thousand; and Querétaro, 256 thousand places. Likewise, from Europe, the airlines with the most seats scheduled for our country are: Aeroméxico, with 541 thousand; Iberia, 309 thousand; Air France, 304 thousand; TUI Airways, 231 thousand; Turkish Airlines, 219 thousand; British Airways, 212 thousand; Deutsche Lufthansa AG, 157 thousand; KLM-Royal Dutch Airlines, 119 thousand; Emirates, 93 thousand; and Eurowings Discover, with 82 thousand seats.

The head of Sectur pointed out that starting from the European region, the cities in Mexico with the most seats scheduled are: Mexico City, with one million 499 thousand; Cancun, one million 265 thousand; Monterrey, 43 thousand; Guadalajara, 42 thousand; and Puerto Vallarta, with 27 thousand places.
