"This continues to ratify the interest of tourists in resorting to the Agencies as professionals in orientation and planning," said Paula Cortés Calle, executive president of ANATO

Recently, DANE released the results of the Quarterly Sample of Travel Agencies, where in 2021 the nominal income of the Agencies revealed a drop of 36%, which showed a substantial improvement compared to 2020, when they fell 70%. , which indicates a recovery of about half in the losses reported in 2020.

For its part, employed personnel shows a different picture, since in 2021 it decreased by 42%, while in 2020, that figure fell by 20%. (results compared to 2019), which indicates that the fall doubled last year.

“The help of the National Government has been fundamental so that the impact in relation to employment was not greater and that is why currently, the work of the public-private sector is focusing on recovering lost positions and allowing Travel Agencies reach their normalization in a faster way”, said Paula Cortés Calle, executive president of ANATO.

According to the same study, during the fourth quarter of 2021, nominal revenues decreased by 5%, being a better result compared to 69%, revealed in the same period of 2020. The above, driven by a year-end season with Fewer restrictions on the arrival of travelers to destinations and the interest of Colombians in resuming their trips for that time.

This better result during the fourth quarter contrasts with the recent publication of DANE's Business Pulse, which showed that in October, November and December, 86%, 88% and 94% of Travel Agencies, respectively, stated that they were in a state of normal operation of its functions. Similarly, in October 46%; in November, 34% and in December, 28% of companies reported an increase in the demand for products and services.

“This continues to ratify the interest of tourists in resorting to the Agencies as professionals in the orientation and planning of their trips. For this reason, during the ANATO Tourist Showcase, and through strategic alliances, the Agencies will continue to expand their offer and update themselves to continue providing the best service to travelers”, mentioned the union leader.
