The ship floated off a dock at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany

The Disney Wish first touched water on Friday, February 11, when it floated off a dock at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. This major construction milestone marked the world's first look at the newest ship in the fleet, so she was celebrated in style with fireworks, a musical orchestra and a special appearance by Captain Minnie Mouse.

Here are some interesting facts about this great event:

• It took about five hours and 29 million gallons (110,000 cubic meters) of water from the Ems River to flood the dock, giving the cruise ship an impressive start, setting sail with just 3 feet of clearance on each side.

• The ship will make its maiden voyage on July 14 from Port Canaveral, Florida.

• The Disney Wish is the first of three new Disney Cruise Line ships to be built at the Meyer Werft shipyard through 2025. Each will run on liquefied natural gas and weigh approximately 144,000 gross tons.

The Disney Wish will be packed with innovative new experiences based on the telling of Disney's fantastic stories, including Disney's first attraction at sea, "Frozen" and Marvel-themed immersive dining experiences, and a luxury lounge at the star wars galaxy.

• The iconic stern sculpture features Rapunzel and her friend Pascal, who “saw the light” for the first time today.

• One of three iconic red chimneys will house a two-story suite, the first of its kind. It will be nearly 2,000 square feet with incredible double-height ocean views - an enchanted penthouse in the sky!

• Artwork on the ship's bow for the first time depicts Captain Minnie Mouse, cementing her place at the forefront of the fleet's future.

• Like all Disney Cruise Line ships, Disney Wish's exterior design is inspired by classic ocean liners and adorned with iconic Mickey Mouse colors.

• The Disney Wish will sail three- and four-night itineraries to Nassau, Bahamas, and Disney's private island, Castaway Cay, from Port Canaveral, Florida, just one hour from Walt Disney World Resort.
