DATE 2022 returns to Punta Cana in May
More than 160 suppliers and buyers from 20 countries have already confirmed their face-to-face participation
Tourism in the Dominican Republic will be the center of attention in May with the return of DATE, a professional event of the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (ASONAHORES). With more than 160 suppliers and buyers from 20 countries confirmed to attend in person, the event will take place from May 11 to 13 at the Barceló Bávaro Convention Center in Punta Cana.
“Our culture, as well as our gastronomy, enriches our tourist offer in general and captivates our visitors who return year after year to stay with us”
“As a result of the hard work and strong commitment of our sector, and the attractive diversity of our Dominican product, we have seen a constant growth in the occupation of our destination in the last year”, said Rafael Blanco Tejera, President of ASONAHORES. "This success demonstrates the effectiveness of our response to the global pandemic and allows us to proudly celebrate this key event in person, so that we can continue to strengthen our strong foundation with the tourism industry and its stakeholders."
In its 22nd edition, DATE 2022 is the main platform for business meetings between international travel agents and tour operators and the main suppliers of the tourism industry in the Dominican Republic. It is open to industry participants and is the first of its kind in the country to be held in person in the last two years.
While trade is at the center of the event, special attention will be paid to promoting the destination's cultural attractions through on-site art exhibits, musical entertainment, and artistic performances. "Our culture, as well as our gastronomy, enriches our tourist offer in general and captivates our visitors who return year after year to stay with us," said the Executive Vice President of ASONAHORES, Andrés Marranzini. "DATE provides an ideal opportunity to showcase and celebrate that, which is also part of our comprehensive promotion strategy."
Although the event is not open to the public, the main international and local media will be present and will participate in an agenda that will show the Dominican Republic as the main destination in the Caribbean. This edition of the event will emphasize the use of digital technology to reduce the use of paper, in line with the sector's objectives of promoting sustainability. A system of pre-booked meetings and automated agendas will be implemented to facilitate interaction and time management among participants.
International tour operators and travel agents can learn more and sign up for complimentary registration through March 23 through the event website www.date.com.do
