The tourist showcase of Panama ended on Saturday with the attendance of more than 3 thousand visitors

EXPO TURISMO Internacional, the main tourist exhibition in Panama, has been organized by the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama (CCIAP) with the support of PROMTUR. The event has been of vital importance to support the reactivation of this industry and ensure that exhibitors increase their business contacts with buyers from large markets interested in the Panamanian and regional tourist offer.

The opening ceremony featured a keynote address delivered by Burcin Turkkan, president of SKAL International, an organization of tourism leaders from around the world that promotes global tourism and friendship. His main philosophy is basic “Do business among friends”. During his speech, he addressed some trends in post-pandemic tourism, reengineering in tourism companies and digital transformation in tourism, among others. 

In this regard, Jose Ramón Icaza, president of the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama (CCIAP) indicated that tourism is a factor that generates thousands of jobs, in addition, it has multiplier effects in other areas of the national economy. For this reason, for eleven years in this business association through EXPO TURISMO Internacional we have sought to contribute to attracting visitors to the country, as well as supporting companies in this area that have been affected by the pandemic.

For her part, Monique de Saint Malo, expressed “EXPO TURISMO Internacional has been the meeting point between tourism service providers and wholesalers. This year we receive representations from Germany, El Salvador, the United States, Spain, Peru, to whom from their entrance to the venue we will offer an experiential moment in which they experience the Panamanian offer first hand”.

In addition, he said that the fair has sought for exhibitors and buyers to take advantage of the opportunity to establish business contacts with wholesalers, tour operators interested in the national and regional tourist offer with congress organizers, as well as adventure tourism, among others, under the same ceiling.

Organizers and sponsors
Organized by the CCIAP, the International Tourism Expo 2022, this year was co-organized by the Panamanian Association of Hotels (APATEL). In addition, this eleventh edition had the support of PROMTUR Panama, the Panama Convention Center (PCC), Copa Airlines, Tigo Business, the Panama Authority (ATP) and the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Authority (AMPYME).

This exhibition has also received the support of Hotel El Panama, Bern Group Hotels, Sheraton Hotel, Aloft Hotel, Verde Azul Group Hotels, JW Marriot, Hotel Riu, Hotel Central, The Santa María Hotel, Whyndham Panama (Albrook Mall) , Hilton Panama, Waldorf Astoria Panama, Central Hotel Panama and Los Mandarinos among others.

The fair had more than 120 exhibition modules; that housed around 150 exhibiting companies that held business meetings with more than 140 international buyers distributed in the event with the aim of positioning Panama as a tourist destination. 

Products and services exhibited
National and international companies specialized in different areas of tourism participated in the fairgrounds, such as airlines, Ministries of Tourism, tour operators, hotels and other lodging establishments (beach, sports, jungle and mountain resorts), bureau de Conventions, travel agencies and shopping malls, among others.
