Brazil could eliminate the requirement of a negative test for Covid-19 to enter the country by air
The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) issued a recommendation to the Ministry of Health, in which it suggests that a negative test is no longer requested and that other measures are also minimized
The National Sanitary Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) issued a recommendation to the Ministry of Health, in which it suggests that travelers entering Brazil no longer be asked for a negative Covid-19 test, and also that quarantines and requirement of an affidavit of health for tourists.
Taking into account the improvement in epidemiological indicators and the increase in the vaccinated population in the Brazilian territory, Anvisa asked the Ministry of Health to minimize the requirements for those who enter the country by air and exempt them from presenting a negative test. of Covid-19 to travelers with a complete vaccination schedule.
The National Health Surveillance Agency also recommended in the document, dated March 28, the suspension of the quarantine requirement for unvaccinated travelers entering the country. Anvisa also suggests that Brazil reopen its international river border -closed since 2020- to passengers who have been vaccinated or who have a negative Covid-19 test.
Anvisa also proposed lifting the requirement to present the Traveler's Health Declaration (DSV) for passengers arriving in the country by air. The document issued by the entity argues that the new recommendations consider the need to adjust the sanitary measures related to international travel to the actual epidemiological status of Brazil, to ensure that the restrictions are proportional to the risk of contamination.
According to Anvisa, vaccination must continue to be the central axis of the national border policy for all modes of transport, and the presentation of the card that certifies the complete vaccination schedule will continue to be mandatory for those who intend to enter the national territory.
For those who do not have the complete vaccination schedule, or are not vaccinated, the health surveillance entity requires the presentation of a test with a negative result, carried out 24 hours before shipment to Brazil. Anvisa's document has a consultative nature, to be considered by the commission formed by the Ministries of Health, Justice and Public Security and Infrastructure, in charge of defining the rules for the entry of travelers into the country.
