Some Colombian destinations have already exceeded the figures for 2019
During the first two months of 2022, 453,417 foreign visitors entered, which meant a reactivation of 68%, compared to the same months of 2019 when 663,286 entered
An optimistic scenario reveals receptive tourism for Colombia. Despite the revaluation of the peso against the dollar, the arrival of foreign visitors to the country continues its normalization and in some cases has reached growth, in relation to the figures registered in the pre-pandemic.
“Colombia continues to be attractive for the international traveler. With public-private work, we have not only managed to maintain the interest of tourists in visiting our destinations, we have also managed to strengthen the offer of packages so that they are motivated to discover places that are different from the traditional ones," said Paula Cortés Calle, executive president of ANATO.
According to ANATO calculations and based on figures from Migración Colombia, during the first two months of 2022, 453,417 foreign visitors entered, which meant a reactivation of 68%, compared to the same months of 2019 when 663,286 entered.
The main countries of origin were the United States, which reported a growth of 2%, with 111,150 registrations, compared to the 109,140 revealed in the same period of 2019; followed by Ecuador, with a reactivation of 90%; Panama, with 88%, Mexico, with 83%; and Peru, with 79%.
"Without a doubt we have managed to make receptive tourism more dynamic and today, thanks to the constant work of Travel Agencies in international tourism fairs, the benefits of new destinations in Colombia of interest to different segments are shown," said the union leader.
