Panama bets on the Brazilian market
The Central American country participated in WTM Latin America with an important delegation to publicize its destinations
Panama was present at WTM Latin America 2022. PROMTUR Panama set up a colorful and extensive stand to show the Brazilian market the highlights of the destination.
During the event we had the opportunity to interview Eugenia Powell, Deputy Director of Sales and Services for the organization. We share your answers below:
What was the purpose of participating in the event?
The objective was to be present at one of the main international events of the travel and tourism industry in Latin America, with the premise of promoting a responsible and sustainable destination. In addition, of course, we seek to analyze global trends in the sector, as well as strengthen relations with the Brazilian market and promote the generation of business with relevant and qualified buyers.
Brazil is a market with a lot of potential for Panama, as tourists tend to travel for a long time and tend to enjoy a destination in its entirety.
We had a very busy schedule, mainly due to the interest that Brazilian operators have in resuming and opening markets. They see Panama as a great opportunity. To promote the arrival of Brazilian visitors, we offer a 14-night stopover with Copa Airlines, something we are only offering in this market.
Before the pandemic, Brazil was the most important source market in the region for you, what is the situation today?
Today this market represents between 30 and 40%, they come for different reasons, both for leisure and for business.
What is the purpose of the stop over program for the Brazilian market?
The idea is that they arrive and can enjoy 3 or 4 nights in Panama City, where we can offer excellent hotels and they can also visit other areas, as we have a country with destinations and experiences of all kinds, including beaches, volcanoes , jungles in a very lush natural environment. For this reason, 12 suppliers participated in our stand that can offer all types of packaging throughout the country.
