The flow of passengers mobilized by international terminals in the first quarter was 3,812,010 people

According to the figures offered by the Air Transport Statistics Division of the JAC, during the month of January 1,287,951 travelers were transported in 10,470 operations, registering this month as the second best in the flow of passengers by air since March 2020 (After December 2021). While in February, 1,177,647 passengers were transported in 9,032 operations, tripling the amount of the same month of 2021.

In this sense, the data contained in the Report corresponding to the month of March shows that 1,346,412 passengers were transported in 10,285 operations, placing this as the third March with the largest number of passengers in the country's history, after March 2019 and 2018. .  

Likewise, the JAC reported that the first quarter of the year registered a total of 5,611 incoming and outgoing charter flight operations, adding a total of 29,787 regular and non-regular air operations carried out from January to March of the year. "These operations demonstrate confidence in the soundness of the Dominican market," said the president of the JAC, Dr. José Marte Piantini.

Marte also added that "the establishment of bilateral air transport relations arranged by the Dominican Republic through the JAC has contributed significantly to connectivity, resulting mainly in gains for air transport users."

Marte Piantini also reported that during the months of January, February and March 2022, the country received 266 commercial airlines from different parts of the world, to which the operations of the Arajet airline will be added starting next May.

The president of the JAC assured that the country is positioned as a benchmark in civil aviation thanks to the support that the President of the Republic Luis Abinader has granted to the sector. “The commitment assumed by the Dominican State has made it possible to turn the sector into one of the pillars of economic development in the country, and proof of this is the new airlines with Dominican capital Arajet, RedAir and Sky Cana, as well as the expansion and remodeling of the airports of Punta Cana and Las Américas for the benefit of commercial exchange”, he said.

The Civil Aviation Board also highlighted that during this first quarter the country has reached an air transport agreement, negotiations and approaches with other nations such as the Kingdom of Spain, the United States of America, the Republic of Costa Rica, Qatar and Ecuador.
