One of the problems we face today in the Hotel sector is the exchange of information in its operation and business processes to efficiently serve guests. Today's traveler requires a fast Internet connection, HDTV, IPTV, the ability to hold video conferences, Check Out in the room, Video Streaming, digital control of temperature and light intensity, digital curtain system, communication through your mobile phone with the reception, among other services, which makes a difference and often marks the preference for one hotel or another.

A future-proof network
Aware of the digital transformation that the industry is undergoing, Furukawa Electric, a Japanese company that manufactures complete solutions for communications network infrastructure, has outlined the trends that guests expect to see in the hotels of their choice.

Excellent fiber optic connections
It is no longer enough for a hotel room to be equipped with state-of-the-art televisions with dozens of channels. Now, users prefer to use tools that allow them to control the intensity of light in the room, open the curtains or send a message to reception, to have a fast Wi-Fi connection. Thanks to the use of optical networks, the value of the services provided by a hotel increases exponentially, allowing the implementation of automated solutions which will improve the user experience and increase revenue for owners.

Future-proof networks
It should be noted that the biggest challenge is to be aware of the importance of technology in all areas, so technology in the tourism sector is making its way hand in hand with 5G networks. Beyond being able to download content at a higher speed, 5G will allow the development and implementation of technologies that were limited by 4G. In other words, the connection between smart devices will be much more efficient.

Big Data, in favor of guests
Hotels collect, cross-reference and analyze the relevant information they generate from their customers and that allows them to define their tastes and needs. The main function of Big Data is to mix the data that the hotel already has, with studies of customer profiles on social networks, as well as to personalize the service, improve the marketing strategy, improve customer satisfaction and thus be at the forefront that the sector requires.

Artificial Intelligence Artificial
Intelligence is another of the trends that is gaining more prominence within the technological solutions of the tourism sector. Communication through these AI systems, chatbots, with customers is consolidated as a new form of communication between establishments and customers. Some hotel chains are already introducing virtual assistants among their services that will help the client to manage hotel services or that can help personalize the atmosphere of their room.

Mobile technology
The mobile has become a tour guide, a travel agency, a locator for the best restaurants, a map, etc. That is why the need arises to adapt the communication and services of hotels to these devices, since, by having the synchronization of your flight, your hotel reservation, your preferences, your plans, among others, in a single device, It will make your experience much more pleasant.

The interoperability of services in the hotel sector
Understanding this new wave of guest needs, Furukawa offers the hotel sector a solution capable of integrating the various services within a unified communication system, optimizing management and physical installation spaces, also contributing to the care of the environment and showing great savings in the cost of installation.

For this reason, interoperability platforms have been developed with passive Fiber Optic solutions or better known as PON LAN networks, which are aimed at integrating voice, data, video and security services with both IP and Analog solutions, with based on fiber optics, in which all the services provided in the rooms and their public areas can be integrated, enhancing the care and service processes that previously seemed far from being achieved.

The Laserway solution provides a significant reduction in investments, both in terms of infrastructure (CAPEX) and levels of operation (OPEX), which makes it an excellent option to meet the connectivity needs of organizations.

Major hotel chains have chosen Furukawa as the supplier brand for their copper or optical networks. Hotels such as Staybridge Suites and the Intercontinental Hotel in Mexico, Río Perdido in Costa Rica, Tayayá Aquaparque Hotel & Resort and Grande Hotel SENAC in Brazil, Hotel Bidasoa in Chile, Hotel Punta Rasa in Cuba, Hotel Las Islas – Aviatur in Colombia, Villa Hotels of Madivas, Accor Raffles and Aston Rede Archipelago of Indonesia, among others, allow their customers to live this experience with the Laserway solution.

There is no doubt that technology offers the opportunity to improve the productivity of the hotel industry while it is within the reach of any establishment, as long as its IT area has experienced professionals and a strategic ally that allows it to optimize the investment in technology and provide you with the most appropriate tools for management.
