Tourism recovery is advancing with increasing strength, as indicated by the figures of the most recent Reactivation Survey, carried out by ANATO to its Travel Agencies, which included the participation of 133 Associated companies.

“With the implementation of these studies, we have managed to understand the course that the reactivation of the sector is taking and specifically, the commercial scope of the services of our Travel Agencies and other related indicators. Likewise, it has allowed us to know the current variations in the way travelers buy”, explained Paula Cortés Calle, executive president of ANATO.

An example of the progress that tourism has reported is related to the constant recovery in sales of Travel Agencies, which, during the first quarter, reached 70%, compared to those of the same months of 2019, and According to the Travel Agencies that participated in the survey, this figure is expected to reach 79% for the second quarter.

According to the study and as has been traditionally seen, the highest participation in sales according to the market was held by vacation tourism with 62%, while the corporate market had 38%. In addition, compared to the participation by segments, sun and beach, obtained the highest figure with 58%; followed by nature and adventure, with 14%; culture, with 11%; and congresses, events and conventions, with 8%.

Regarding the percentage of participation in the commercialization according to destination, it was 48% for the national, where the Caribbean region, Medellín, Coffee Region and Bogotá, were the destinations with the highest sales. For its part, the international, had 52% where, the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Turkey, Dubai and the European continent, were the most requested.

"During the reactivation process and to strengthen this dynamic in their sales, during 2022, our companies have implemented actions such as new commercial alliances, design of innovative tourist packages, investment in the digital offer of their products and services, among others," he said. the union leader.

And he added: “we are on the eve of the Tourism Outlet, which we will carry out from June 17. We hope that this type of initiative will help increase the reactivation of Travel Agencies by a few percentage points, taking advantage of the fact that, in accordance with the provisions of article 45 of Law 2068 of 2020 and 65 of Law 2155 of 2021, the provision of Hotel and tourism services resident in Colombia are exempt from Sales Tax (VAT) until December 31, 2022. Air tickets will be taxed at the 5% VAT rate until December 31, 2022."
