IHG opens the second avid in Mexico in Tijuana
The 126-room hotel is located just 10 minutes from the airport
IHG Hotels & Resorts, one of the world's leading hotel companies, announces the opening of the avid Tijuana Otay Hotel. This is one of the newest brands within the essentials collection in the IHG portfolio and is already expanding rapidly in North America, surpassing 50 open properties. avid Hotels has gained tremendous momentum thanks to its distinctive brand promise: the basics done exceptionally well, which attracts travelers in urban and emerging destinations.
The official ribbon-cutting event was held today, with the assistance of Lic. José de Jesús Quiñonez, Undersecretary of Tourism of the Government of Baja California. Also present, on behalf of IHG Hotels & Resorts: Jorge Apaez, Chief Operating Officer for Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean and German Ongay Regional Vice President of Development and franchise sales for Mexico; by Flecha Amarilla, Arturo Pinto Aguilar and Daniel Rodríguez Martínez, President and Vice President of the Board of Directors respectively; as well as directors and managers of the same group, as well as business partners and authorities of the state government.
The avid Tijuana Otay hotel, owned by Flecha Amarilla, represents an investment of 150 million pesos in this prosperous border city and operates under a commercial license agreement with IHG Hotels & Resorts.
Located in the Otay area, known for its easy access to main avenues and its proximity to the Tijuana Internacional and Misión de las Californias industrial parks, the new property is a 10-minute drive from the airport. It is made up of five floors, with 126 rooms and has a gym, public spaces for breakfast, relaxation and co-working, a convenience market and parking. Other nearby points of interest include the Otay Shopping Center, the new Peninsula Shopping Center, the River Zone, the Cultural Center, and the Chevron and Caliente stadiums.
The hotel offers travelers just what they need. The rooms are clean, comfortable and modern. All rooms are equipped with the IHG Studio, allowing guests to project their entertainment directly from smartphones and personal devices onto the 55-inch televisions in each room.
