During the three days of the event, the main figures of the sector met to discuss the future of tourism in the Caribbean destination

The Antigua & Barbuda Showcase 2022, organized by the Antigua and Barbuda Hotel and Tourism Association, in collaboration with the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, delighted its attendees with pre-programmed sessions and activities in which wholesalers and tour operators from around the world have been able to meet and do business with regional suppliers to the tourism industry.

In addition, the authorities delved into the attractions of the islands, their air connectivity, the hotel offer, their paradisiacal beaches and the differentials of the destination.

During the three days of the event, the main figures of the sector met to discuss the future of tourism in Antigua and Barbuda in the Destination Roundtable, which brought together the main tourism entities for an interactive debate on the future of the tourism sector in Antigua and Barbuda; tourism organizations from Antigua and Barbuda met with various tour operators and buyers from the source markets of the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, Canada, the Caribbean, Latin America and the United Arab Emirates; and visiting travel promoters set out to explore Antigua and Barbuda, experiencing various attractions including the National Sailing Academy, learn to play the pan and taste rum at The Great House Antigua, cooking classes at the restaurant and gallery anna art, a visit to the Ras Freeman compound with Humble and Free Wadadli and a day tour of Barbuda. The event culminated with a closing party at Prickly Pear hosted by Hodges Bay Resort & Spa.

A unique destination
The hospitality and security offered by the destination are great highlights. So much so that Charles Fernández, the Minister of Tourism, stated: "For us, it is very important that tourists feel calm when walking through the city at night." In addition, it is an ideal destination to get to know a very interesting local culture, with 365 beaches to relax and enjoy with family, as a couple or with friends. 

Hotel offer and recommended stay
Antigua and Barbuda's hotel offer has options that fit all budgets. With facilities from 3 to 5 stars, a total of 3,500 rooms is reached in addition to what is offered by Airbnb. 
It should be noted that there are also opening of new hotels planned for the coming months and among them one operated by Marriott stands out.

In this sense, Colin James, CEO of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, pointed out: "In general, tourists tend to stay nine days on the island, but it depends on where they come from. Many travelers stay only five days as a rest after a few vacations in some city. Others prefer to stay 15 days in Antigua and Barbuda to enjoy all the attractions of the destination".

How to get to Antigua and Barbuda?
Antigua and Barbuda today has one of the newest airports in the Caribbean. The air connection is extensive and flights arrive from Miami, New York, Atlanta and Europe. As the Minister of Tourism pointed out, the proximity of Miami to the island, just three hours by air.
