The world leader in hospitality and its hotels in the region are extending several activations in support of the cause throughout the Caribbean and Latin America

Marriott International has long been a champion of diversity, equity and inclusion around the world, setting the industry standard to welcome everyone. This year, the world leader in hospitality is once again proudly celebrating the LGBTQ+ community in the Caribbean and Latin America with its Pride Bazaar that spans the entire region. A host of unique activities and experiences are available at Marriott International properties throughout the month of June, inviting everyone to come together, champion, and celebrate this important cause.

“We are proud to stand with our LGBTQ+ community and celebrate Pride Month from border to border at our more than 300 properties in the region, all of which are committed to always putting people first and making everyone feel welcome,” said Brian. King, President, Marriott International in the Caribbean and Latin America. "This year, many of our properties will show their support by participating in the Pride Bazaar and celebrating our belief that love is a universal language, and that when love travels it has the power to unite us all #LoveTravels."

Inspired by its strong global culture of inclusion, Marriott International in the Caribbean and Latin America decided to create the Pride Bazaar, which aims to bridge cultures, inspire discovery and connect people, places and purpose throughout the region. The hospitality industry leader and many of its hotels, from Mexico to South America, are set to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community with a series of unique activities, including Pride shopping events, a Pride travel itinerary, Pride, Pride travel bags, a comedy show, a virtual informational panel on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and the decoration of its lobbies and facades with the colors of the rainbow.

celebrations with pride
Pride month is all about celebration – celebrating who you are and who you love. To promote these celebrations, Marriott properties are hosting several fun events throughout the region. Get ready for the Pride Parade on Sao Paulo's Avenida Paulista by joining the special lounge created with Sephora to celebrate Pride with music, drinks and – of course – makeup. Reserve your space on the party bus in Mexico to experience the Pride parade and end the night in the LIVING ROOM BAR, where the best Drag Queens and impersonators of Mexico will perform; At the Marriott Bonvoy Moment Pride live event in Lima, you can enjoy yourself in a Suite while you prepare for the party with the help of a makeup artist; opt for the Bogotá Pride Suite to celebrate while supporting the cause, since part of the proceeds will be donated to the Amor Real Foundation to help homeless people, mostly belonging to the LGBTQ+ community. Invite your friends to an exclusive Pride-inspired makeup class with a MAC Cosmetics professional while enjoying cocktails and appetizers, and later, they can attend the "Linner" event, a nightly brunch serving various national and international dishes wrapped in colorful neon lights, or you can continue celebrating Pride throughout the month of July, dancing the night away at the Viva la Roof Party celebration in Puerto Rico.

Celebrations await around every corner and Marriott properties have even more surprises in store for you, including an Aruba Drag Night Brunch at La Vista Restaurant; Night Brunch Party of Pride in Peru; Floats in the Marriot International Pride Parade in Panama; Cancun Pride Brunch; Drag Night Brunch in Panama; Couples Night in Mexico, and the Ritz-Carlton Santiago will create a cocktail inspired by Pride month that will be available only during June.

Shopping with Pride
Every Bazar needs a shopping experience, and several Marriott International properties in the region will offer the opportunity to shop in celebration of Pride. Artists, brands, and entrepreneurs from the LGBTQ+ community will be supported with local spaces and activations to promote their brands, creations, and products that will be available in Mexico and Costa Rica. This is a great opportunity to support the talent and creativity of the LGBTQ+ community, and to learn about some of the fabulous proposals that will be participating, including Alltogether, Heart Honey, Merkabá, Outlaw, Toro, Zurcé, Tiendita Pride and Rainbow Store.

“Travel with Pride” Bag
The travel industry is one of the most inclusive in the world and Marriott wanted to show its solidarity by transforming an iconic travel item – the travel bag. Partnering with Bernardo Medina, a renowned LGBTQ+ artist from Puerto Rico, Marriott sponsored the creation of the “Travel with Pride” bag, which will be given away throughout the region to media, influencers and guests attending activities of the Pride Bazaar in Mexico City and Sao Paulo. In Puerto Rico, the bags will be sold and the proceeds will be donated to the local True Self Foundation, a local non-profit organization that promotes wellness in the LGBTQ+ community.

The Colors of the Rainbow
It has become a regional tradition for many Marriott properties to display the colors of the rainbow on their facades or interior spaces during June. In 2022, 18 properties in 7 markets in the region will be illuminated with the colors of the rainbow again, demonstrating that “there is no place for inequality”. Additionally, many properties are working with local artists to create Pride designs for their spaces that will serve as colorful photo backdrops and Instagram moments to spread joy and inspiration. Do not miss the display of rainbow umbrellas in Chile that will undoubtedly cause a stir in your Instagram feed.

Pride Information Panels
An important part of Marriott International's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion mission is to promote and lead the conversation around high-impact issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community. Following the success of last year's “Inclusion Begins at the Top” panel, the company will once again host a regional virtual panel, this time featuring Robert Guidice, Director of Lodging for Marriott International in the Caribbean and Latin America, and the special guests Oriol Pamies, member of the Board of Directors of IGLTA, and Camilo Quintero Tamayo and José Antonio Vergara, influencers and creators of Our Daily Lives, their social media content platform where the couple shares content about the LGBTQ+ community. The panel aims to inspire a debate on diversity, equity and inclusion in the region. In Chile, a local Pride panel will also be held to discuss violence and discrimination in the workplace with the participation of Eduardo Yoshimoto, general manager of W Santiago and leader of the Orientation Team of the Business Council of Marriott International in the Caribbean and Latin America; Marriott associates from the LGBTQ+ community, and a member of Fundación Todo Mejora, an organization that supports children and adolescents who experience violence based on their sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. general manager W Santiago and leader of the Guidance Team of the Business Council of Marriott International in the Caribbean and Latin America; Marriott associates from the LGBTQ+ community, and a member of Fundación Todo Mejora, an organization that supports children and adolescents who experience violence based on their sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. general manager W Santiago and leader of the Guidance Team of the Business Council of Marriott International in the Caribbean and Latin America; Marriott associates from the LGBTQ+ community, and a member of Fundación Todo Mejora, an organization that supports children and adolescents who experience violence based on their sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.

Marriott International seeks to make every traveler and associate feel welcome, and its strength is in its ability to embrace differences and make everyone feel respected and valued with efforts that go beyond just celebrating Pride in June. In 2021, the company was inducted into the DiversityInc Hall of Fame, recognizing the many milestones of its longstanding support of the LGBTQ+ community, and this year received a 100% rating in the Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index. Human Rights, acknowledging your commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion in the workplace. These kinds of allies, celebrating who they are and who they love, is what the world needs, and hopefully more players across industries will follow suit.
