Copa Airlines adds new routes from CDMX to the Hub of the Americas

The Panamanian firm announced that as of September 26, it will initially serve three weekly frequencies from the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) to the Tocumen International Airport

Copa Airlines {NYSE: CPA}, a subsidiary of Copa Holdings, SA and a member of the Star Alliance global airline network, announced that as of September 26, 2022, it will serve, initially with three weekly flights, the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA ) in the metropolitan area of ​​Mexico City.

The Copa Airlines flight to the new AIFA will operate on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, departing at 9:20 am from the Tocumen International Airport, Panama (local time) and arriving at the Felipe Ángeles International Airport, in Mexico City, at 01:22 p.m. (local time). The return flight will depart on the same days at 3:29 pm, arriving in Panama at 7:22 pm (local time).

“The Mexican market has been very important for Copa Airlines and for this reason we are pleased to be able to offer alternatives that allow us to continue strengthening our service to its capital. In this way, we remain firm with the objective of increasing the connectivity of the countries where we operate, and contributing to the growth of tourism, investment and economic and social development of our region”, said Pedro Heilbron, executive president of Copa Airlines.

With these new flight frequencies, Copa Airlines will expand its offer to and from Mexico City, thus becoming the first airline to serve this new Airport, from an international connection center such as the Hub of the Americas®, locating at the Airport Tocumen International Airport, in Panama City, where passengers will be able to connect with more than 75 destinations on the continent.

For his part, the general director of the Federal Civil Aviation Agency, Carlos Antonio Rodríguez Munguía, stated “As an authority, it is satisfactory to be able to collaborate with Copa Airlines and successfully manage the permits and authorizations that made it possible to open the route between Ciudad of Panama and the Felipe Angeles International Airport, whose operation begins today. He stressed the certainty that it will be a success and will allow Copa Airlines to consolidate its operations in Mexican territory and expand options to the thousands of passengers who will benefit from this new destination.”

The airline continues to promote air connectivity in the region by adding more destinations to its network. With the announcement of the new flight to AIFA and the start of operations at the end of this month in Santa Marta in Colombia, and Barcelona in Venezuela, the airline adds 3 new destinations to its route network so far this year. In this way, it offers more flight options to passengers, thus contributing to the development of tourism and economic activity in the communities where it operates.
