The Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués, reported that 10 digital wedding catalogs were published to promote this important segment


The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, announced that as part of the strategy to diversify tourism activity, the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, published 10 Wedding Catalogs to promote Romance Tourism in 10 different destinations in the country.

Developed through the Tourism Policy and Innovation Unit of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur), the Traditional Wedding Catalogs concentrate the tourist offer of the states of: Aguascalientes, Baja California, Mexico City, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Morelos, Oaxaca , Puebla, Veracruz and Yucatán, and show the wealth of tourism, traditions, beliefs, symbols, arts, stories and ancestral techniques, along with the natural resources of the locality.

The head of Sectur commented that “traditional weddings are significant for tourist destinations in Mexico, since through them the uniqueness of local communities, living ethnic groups and native peoples that make up the cultural diversity of our country are rescued; In this way, the receiving locality is economically integrated, productive chains are strengthened, promoting sustainability, social inclusion and regional balance.”

He added that these weddings are capable of satisfying the needs and tastes of each couple, particularly of the new generations that seek to find an unforgettable experience in ancestral celebrations.

Torruco Marqués highlighted that through these digital catalogs, Sectur seeks to promote Romance Tourism as a development mechanism for small and medium-sized companies, taking into account the new tourism policy that privileges the well-being of Mexicans and the redistribution of benefits of tourism equitably among the population, communities and regions of the country.

The Traditional Wedding Catalogs published digitally are the result of a coordinated effort between Sectur, the Destination Wedding Specialist Association (DWSA), the Tourism Secretariats of various states and the specialized providers in the destinations, who took on the task of conduct a search to rescue marriage ceremonies, to create innovative tourism products aimed at the Romance segment, with a differentiating value that gives them a distinctive touch and highlights their identity.

The Secretary of Tourism indicated that Romance Tourism covers trips made by couples and families to celebrate a special reason in their lives such as renewal of vows, farewells, ring delivery, honeymoons, anniversaries, as well as destination weddings. and elopement weddings.

He stressed that the main source markets for this tourism segment are the United States, Canada and South America.
