According to migration data, this year more than 33,000 international travelers entered for business and professional reasons, which represents a growth of 150.6% compared to the same period of the previous year

Within the framework of FIEXPO Latin America, the most important fair in the region for the meetings, events and incentives industry, the delegation of Colombian businessmen, accompanied by ProColombia, reported business expectations of US$96,519,920, with nearly 600 appointments concreted.

During the meeting, which took place in Panama City between June 13 and 16, more than 200 international buyers participated, mainly in the congress market, who were able to learn about the offer of the 25 participating Colombian businessmen. The results obtained in 2022 in terms of business expectations represent an exponential growth compared to the 2021 version, when US$932,500 were reported.

Commercial opportunities were obtained with buyers, mainly from the United States, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Uruguay, Brazil and Ecuador. The expectations allow projecting the attraction of congresses, events and conventions to cities such as Bogotá, Medellín, Pereira, Armenia, Bucaramanga, Cali, Cartagena, Santa Marta and Barranquilla

“At ProColombia we have set ourselves the goal of taking the country's meetings industry to another level, by positioning the attributes we have in the destinations of our Six Tourist Regions, not only in terms of diversity of venues and hotels, but also in terms of cost competitiveness and sustainability. All this, thanks to the synergy between the private sector, the Government and promotion entities”, said Flavia Santoro, president of ProColombia.

According to data from Migración Colombia, more than 33,000 international travelers entered the country for business and professional reasons, which represents a growth of 150.6% compared to the same period of the previous year. "Our strategy of promoting and recovering tourism has allowed us to boost this segment of the industry, one of those that leaves the most resources to the regions," added Santoro.

The Colombian stand was the second largest of the fair, where the tourist offer for the meetings segment was presented, accompanied by the presence of the Country Brand. At the close of the meeting, the organization of FIEXPO Latin America gave ProColombia the recognition for presenting the most ecological stand, according to criteria of electricity consumption and use of recycled material. It is the first time that the country's stand receives this award, within the framework of this fair.
