It is a novelty of vital importance for the South American country, since the British issuing market is one of the most important

The authorities of the United Kingdom, through the Office of Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth and Development (FCDO, for its acronym in English) changed their travel alert for Ecuador from orange to green category, this Wednesday, July 6, being the best rating level within its three-tier scale. Travel alerts are sovereign decisions that each country issues to inform its fellow citizens about the risks in a destination.

This change in the United Kingdom's travel alert is valuable news for the country, since this destination is one of the main sources of tourists to Ecuador.

In the information issued by the FCDO it is mentioned that, although social demonstrations took place between June 13 and 30, they concluded in an agreement with which calm has returned to the country. During this period of time, the Ministry of Tourism provided assistance to a total of 2,540 travelers of which 5% were British citizens. In addition to coordinating 10 humanitarian flights for the mobilization of tourists, within the framework of its participation in the National Emergency Operations Committee (COE), together with the National Risk Management Service and with the support of the Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces. Likewise, 1,167 foreign tourists were supported so that they can continue their trips and return to their destinations.

This State portfolio ratifies its commitment to continue promoting the development of tourism in a sustainable, responsible and safe manner in our country.
