The Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués, reported that in the first five months of the year, 1,248 cruise ships arrived in Mexico


The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, announced that from January to May 2022, 2 million 674 thousand cruise passengers arrived at the different ports of our country.

The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) reported that in the period January-May of this year, the arrival of 1,248 cruise ships was registered.

He pointed out that the ports that received the highest number of cruise passengers in Mexico were: Cozumel and Mahahual, in Quintana Roo; Ensenada, Lower California; Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur; Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco; and Mazatlan, Sinaloa; which represented 95.6% of the total number of passengers.

Torruco Marqués explained that in the first five months of the year, Cozumel, Quintana Roo, registered 498 arrivals, and one million 18 thousand 617 passengers; Mahahual, Quintana Roo, had 251 arrivals, with 523,197 cruise passengers.

From January to May 2022, Ensenada, Baja California, registered the arrival of 140 cruise ships, in which 226 thousand 5 passengers arrived; and in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California, 116 vessels arrived with a total of 213,850 passengers.

In this period, Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, registered the arrival of 89 cruise ships and 179 thousand 25 passengers, while in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, 69 arrivals and 149 thousand 161 cruise passengers were reported.

The Secretary of Tourism commented that the arrival of cruise passengers to Mexico in January-May 2022 represented a foreign exchange income of 198.5 million dollars.
