Between January and May 2022, nearly 250 million international tourists arrived worldwide, which means a reactivation of 46% compared to the same period in 2019

An important commitment has been made by the National Government hand in hand with entrepreneurs in the sector in aspects of quality, competitiveness, infrastructure and promotion in the country, with the aim of promoting the arrival of travelers from abroad to learn about the varied offer of the regions from Colombia.

Figures recently released by the UNWTO Barometer, which indicates that between January and May 2022, nearly 250 million international tourists arrived worldwide, which means a reactivation of 46% compared to the same period in 2019.
In relation to Europe and America, these led the recovery in those months, presenting 64% and 60% respectively, when compared to the same period in 2019.

However, in the case of Colombia, the figures are even more positive, since between January and May 2022, the reactivation in the entry of non-resident visitors reached 86%, with 1.6 million travelers, the above based on data from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism.

“Today our receptive tourism is going through a good time. In fact, the figures show that Colombia is one of the countries with the best behavior, even surpassing the results of the region and the world, which denotes that the coordinated work has been carried out correctly and oriented towards the same objective”, explained Paula Cortés Calle, executive president of ANATO.

The UNWTO also announced that its scenarios for 2022 point to international arrivals reaching between 55% and 70% of pre-pandemic levels in 2022, while ANATO, based on figures from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, calculates that the reactivation in the arrival of non-resident visitors for 2022 could be between 85% and 90% compared to 2019, which would mean between 3.8 and 4.1 million non-resident visitors.
