Frequencies, currently daily, will increase to 10 return flights per week in September. Next October, there will be two daily departures to Carrasco Airport, departing from Guarulhos International Airport

Montevideo, one of the main destinations of GOL Líneas Aéreas in South America, was the first international route resumed by the Company in November 2021 after the most severe period of the pandemic. Round-trip flights to Carrasco Airport from Guarulhos International Airport (GRU), which are currently daily, will become 10 weekly flights each way on September 1, while from October 1 this year there will be two daily takeoffs to the neighboring country.

Currently, there are 14 direct weekly operations between Guarulhos and Carrasco Airport, one daily flight from Monday to Sunday in each direction. As of September 1, there will be a total of 20 weekly flights, that is, 10 outbound and 10 return, departing from Guarulhos in the morning and in the afternoon, and departing from Montevideo to Brazil in the early hours of the morning and the afternoon. This same variety of schedules will be maintained as of October 1, when there will be 2 daily flights between Brazil and Uruguay (or 28 weekly flights in both directions).

“South America, and particularly Montevideo, is a traditional market for GOL Clients and is of great importance to the company. To give you an idea, in 2019, before the pandemic, Guarulhos-Montevideo was one of the three international routes that brought the best results for the Company. We returned to the Uruguayan capital in November of last year with four return trips per week, with the certainty that the offer of flights and seats will increase. By the beginning of October of this year, we will reach the mark of two daily departures for the neighboring country, encouraging a flow of clients who travel for pleasure and business," said the commercial manager of GOL's International Markets, Luiz Teixeira.

“The increase in the air connection between Montevideo and São Paulo fills us with satisfaction, given that the traffic between both cities is very important, both for tourism and business reasons. At Aeropuertos Uruguay we are constantly working to increase connectivity with the rest of the world. In this sense, having fluid traffic with the Guarulhos Airport makes it easier to arrive in other countries, fulfilling our goal of having an increasingly connected Uruguay,” said the commercial manager of Aeropuertos Uruguay, Matías Carluccio.

A little over two hours by flight from São Paulo, Uruguay is a destination close to Brazil, with attractions ranging from nature and cultural traditions to wines and meats, and easily accessible, since Brazilians do not need to present their passport to enter the country.

Montevideo, the capital, remains a convenient starting point for nearby cities popular with tourists: Punta del Este and Colonia del Sacramento.

Flights between Guarulhos and Carrasco Airport are operated by GOL with the modern Boeing 737-800 aircraft, which, in international configuration, has capacity for 176 passengers.
