The Undersecretary of Tourism projects more than 1.4 million overnight trips during the last long weekend of 2022

The Division of Studies and Territories of the institution also estimates that the regions of Valparaíso, O'Higgins and Maule are the main destinations.

A few days before the start of the last long weekend of the year, the Undersecretary of Tourism delivered the details of the projections of overnight trips that will take place throughout the country. For the long weekend for the "Day of the Evangelical and Protestant Churches" and "All Saints' Day" 2022, 1,414,102 overnight trips are projected, that is, +63.5% more than in the same holiday in 2021, and +45.3% more than the same period in 2019.

“The estimates for this long weekend are very positive, they reflect a significant increase if we compare them with 2021 and even with 2019, that is, pre-pandemic figures. We hope that the micro, small and medium-sized entrepreneurs and tourism businesswomen, and the entire sector, can take advantage of this opportunity to continue with the work of reactivating this item”, assured the Undersecretary of Tourism, Verónica Kunze.

The three main destination regions are projected to be Valparaíso (349,085 trips), O'Higgins (150,547) and Maule (146,699), while the three main destination districts would be Viña del Mar (41,141 trips), El Tabo (38,458 trips ) and Algarrobo (35,992 trips).
