Great year for Mexico's international tourism
The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico announced that the foreign exchange income from international visitors from January to September 2022 was 54.1% more compared to 2021
The Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués, highlighted that this represents an increase of 54.1% compared to the same period in 2021, and also exceeds by 10.3% more what was captured from January to September 2019. He pointed out that, in that period, they arrived to Mexico 27 million 542 thousand international tourists, which represents 22.4% more than what was captured in 2021; being 16.1% away from reaching the 32 million 837 thousand international tourists who entered in the same period of 2019. In addition, it indicated that the balance of the balance for international travelers was 15 thousand 527 million dollars, this is 57.6% more to what was registered in 2021; also exceeding with 37.8% the balance captured in the same period of 2019.
The head of the Tourism Secretariat (Sectur) highlighted that, based on the results of the International Travelers Survey published by INEGI, between January and September 2022, 27 million 542 thousand international tourists entered the country, which represents 22.4 % more compared to what was captured in 2021; being 16.1% away from reaching the 32 million 837 thousand international tourists who entered in the same period of 2019.
He also highlighted that the average expenditure of international tourists in the period January-September 2022 was 701.8 dollars, which means 27.4% more compared to 2021, and also exceeding by 36.1% the 515.7 dollars registered in the same period of 2019.
