Within the framework of the meeting of the Organization of the Mayan World (OMM) that was held in the colonial city of Antigua, TagAirlines, the flag airline of Guatemala, received recognition from the Guatemalan Institute of Tourism (INGUAT) for its commitment in favor of the connectivity and the promotion of the destinations of the Mayan World.

The recognition was delivered by Anayanzi Rodríguez, Director of the Guatemalan Tourism Institute (INGUAT), in the presence of tourism authorities from the countries that make up the Mundo Maya Organization (Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Belize and Mexico). . In her message, Rodríguez recognized the great work of TagAirlines to strengthen connectivity in the Mayan World.

On behalf of Marcela Toriello, President of TagAirlines, and all collaborators, Julio Gamero, CEO of the company, thanked the award and said that it is a recognition of six decades of work in favor of air connectivity and the development of the region.

"It is a great pride for TagAirlines to promote the connectivity and development of the Mundo Maya destinations, we know the importance that this distinction has and commits us to redouble our efforts to continue connecting the destinations in the region, as well as offer the best service to our passengers," he said.

He explained that TagAirlines currently offers a daily frequency between Cancún and Guatemala, as well as four frequencies to Oaxaca, Mérida and Tuxtla Gutiérrez, in addition to three weekly flights between Mérida and Flores, and four between Cancún and Flores, which allows connectivity that The Mundo Maya needed so much to promote a multi-destination option in the region.

Julio Gamero also highlighted that the company is experiencing a new era with the relaunch of the brand and the strengthening of its air fleet that will allow it to reach more destinations in Central America and southern Mexico.

He detailed the main aspects of the company's new era, which include the incorporation of ATR 72 type aircraft into the fleet, considered the most efficient and ecological on the market, which will allow the company to continue with the strategy to expand air connectivity in Central America. and southern Mexico, and maintain the best service and comfort for passengers.

He said that 2022 has been a year of a lot of work and great achievements for the company, among which he highlighted the obtaining of the official appointment as the flag airline of the nation by the Government of Guatemala, as well as the start of new air routes between Guatemala with Oaxaca and Tuxtla Gutiérrez, as well as the route between Mérida, Yucatán, and Flores, and also between the cities of San Salvador and Roatán.

The meeting of the Organization of the Mayan World had the participation of representatives of the five Mexican states that are part of this important region: Quintana Roo, Chiapas, Campeche, Tabasco and Yucatán.

The Organization of the Mayan World was created with the aim of promoting tourism in the five countries that make up this region and preserving the heritage of the Mayan civilization, through a strategy that includes the creation of new tourism products, environmental protection, the rescue of the archaeological zones, the promotion of the brand and the sustainable development of the native communities.
