IBTM World prepares for a successful fair
Pre-scheduled appointments and visitor registration return to pre-pandemic levels
With less than a week to go until IBTM World, which will take place at Fira Barcelona from November 29 to December 1, the organizers have reported that the number of visitor registrations and pre-scheduled appointments has surpassed that of 2019, reflecting a solid return to global business for the industry.
The number of pre-scheduled appointments at the emblematic Barcelona fair, which will have the creation of culture as its theme, already exceeds the figures for 2019, representing the highest number of appointments per attendee than ever. This number will increase further as the calendars open, allowing exhibitors to send invitations to buyers. A total of 60,000 pre-scheduled meetings have been confirmed to take place during the three-day event.
Visitor registration is running ahead of 2019, and it is anticipated that there will be more than 10,000 attendees at the fair.
The three-day event will once again be truly global, with a total of 2,200 exhibitors from over 100 countries attending. Additionally, there are 91% of the number of destinations in attendance in 2019, making IBTM World a truly global event experience.
More hotels are represented than in 2019, including Accor which will return after a long absence. IBTM World will once again welcome Brazil, along with its 20 booth partners, and Malaysia will return after attending in 2021. The Tokyo Convention and Visitors Bureau will attend with ten partners, including the Japan National Tourism Office and the of Conventions and Visitors of Kyoto, and will represent Japan. It has recently reopened for business. New Zealand will have a significantly larger presence this year, and Bahrain has increased its involvement to promote the new convention centre, the Bahrain International Convention and Exhibition Centre. In terms of technology, Stova will launch its new brand alongside a number of key new technology exhibitors.
A total of 2,200 corporate buyers, associations and prestigious agencies are expected to attend, including the European Union of Insurance Medicine and Social Security (EUMASS), Pfizer, COSMOPOLIS, International Stereoscopic Union, SAUDI Telecom Company, UNICEO (United Network of International Corporate Events Organisers), The British Pain Society, Maritz Global Events, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Citigroup Inc., and CWT Meetings & Events.
David Thompson, IBTM World Events Director, comments: “The big numbers we are seeing ahead of this year's show show that the industry is ready to do business again on a global scale. This year we have an invigorated show with exciting new formats, exclusive programs and experiences for buyers and interactive sessions of knowledge programs.
