The tour operators will be decisive to regionalize tourism in Mexico
The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco, said that in the current Administration this sector will play a prominent role in the integration and consolidation of packages and services for each region of the country
In a meeting he held with tour operators, as part of the work that took place at the Tianguis Turístico, Acapulco 2019, the head of the Sectur said that these "dream maquiladoras" will have to respond to the new tourist trend with a diversification of products that they are attractive both for visitors from the main countries that emit tourism, as well as for national ones.
With this strategy, the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador seeks to empower the economy of the inhabitants of each locality and region of the Mexican Republic where tourist attractions are developed.
When affirming that the tour operators will be decisive to regionalize tourism with the promotion and commercialization of "anchor" products, the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, indicated that these "dream maquiladoras" will have to respond to the new tourist current with a diversification that is attractive for national and foreign tourism.
In a meeting he held with the members of the National Association of Tour Operators of Mexico (ANTM), as part of the work carried out within the framework of the Tourism Tianguis of Mexico, Acapulco 2019, the Secretary of Tourism invited this sector to highlight and promote the most important tourist attractions of each region, in order to integrate packages and services that attract the attention, in principle, of the main countries that send tourists to the country.
This regionalized tourism current that will be developed in the current administration, clarified the head of the Sectur, will also seek to diversify the regional tourist offer to attract national visitors to these locations and, at the same time, boost the economy of the inhabitants of each locality and region. with tourist attractions.
"Uniting all associations and operators in the country is essential to make more tourism; implement new methods of development, products, packages and attractions that really show that this is the path where we are supporting the new tourism policy, "said Torruco Marqués.
As an example of this tourist regionalization with "anchor" products, the tourism secretary announced that in Coahuila the first stone will be laid for the construction of a large museum.
"We are going to break some record, we already broke one with the biggest chair to ride in Múzquiz, Portugal was won, now we are going to fight so that in that place a great cavalcade begins as the beginning of a cowboy carnival that unifies all the northern states, "he said.
The Secretary of Tourism gave as an example of this type of tourism products what was achieved in Mexico City with the Day of the Dead Carnival, "which has become one of the most famous internationally in such a short time."
It is, he said, to use creativity to attract the attention of national and foreign media, and these products can be promoted by tour operators.
Miguel Torruco Marqués informed that he met with the governors of some states of the country to configure the tourist attraction "anchor" of each place. There are still some states that are going to be taken out little by little and for the second year of the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, we will have already consolidated the complementary attractions, he added.
"We are now going to take the bull by the horns and implement strategic programs." What is involved, Torruco Marqués continued, is to offer other routes, since of the 41 million 500 thousand tourists that arrived in Mexico at the end of 2018, 80 percent went to only five tourist zones: Cancún, Ciudad de Mexico, Playa del Carmen, Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta.
Then, the trend of tourist flows, he insisted, is regionalized and packages of Mountain, Mexico City, Sun and Beach, among others, have to be formed that attract the attention not only of tourists from the United States and Canada, but also Visitors from China, South Korea, Russia and Ukraine, among other countries with potential as tourists.
