Guatemala was present at IBTM Americas. To know the current situation of the MICE market in that destination, we interviewed Paola Mejía, Coordinator of Tourist Segments of INGUAT. The official commented: "In this event 10 companies have participated with us that come to close businesses, the very important to be here because Mexico is a strategic market for us".
"We promote our destinations, our culture, our quality of service, the new properties we have in Guatemala City, ideal for MICE."
"We have a capital full of hotels, certified staff, and we can also offer La Antigua, which besides being a UNESCO heritage, has everything you need to make an unforgettable event."
"Among the aspects that distinguish us I can highlight that we have authentic destinations, our human resources have a great experience, we are able to be flexible enough to adapt to any type of event, our location allows us to have excellent connectivity and we can also offer attractive prices. "
"We are working to continue improving our connectivity with the main markets in the Americas and Europe."
"It should be noted that we can receive events throughout the year, because our climate is friendly in all seasons."
"We have many great events this year and next year looks great because there are many more scheduled." In our country we will exceed 19,000 events. Which already represents 1.9% of GDP. We have grown 9% year-on-year. In general terms, the tourism industry already exceeds 2% of GDP".
