Dominican Republic surpasses historical record of passengers
The Caribbean country exceeded for the first time the 10 million travelers in the eight months of a year
Luis Ernesto Camilo President of the Board of Civil Aviation of the Dominican Republic (JAC), informed that in the month of August 2018, the airports of the country, mobilized a total of 1,270,488 passengers on incoming and outgoing flights.
In that sense, Camilo explained: "During the period January - August 2018, the Dominican Republic mobilized in and out, the amount of 10,290,155 passengers through its international airports, surpassing for the first time the barrier of 10 million people in eight months, which represents an absolute increase of 4.44% and 437,837 additional passengers, compared to the same period of the previous year "
According to the data collected by Infotur Dominicano, Dominican airports registered the mobilization of 9,198,547 passengers on regular flights (4,524,938 arrivals and 4,673,609 departures) and 1,106,587 passengers on charter flights (540,154 arrivals and 566,433 departures).
The Punta Cana International Airport continues to lead in August passenger traffic to and from the country with the number of 663,540 people transported, followed by Las Americas - José Francisco Peña Gómez, with 352,187. Next in descending order are the International airports of Cibao and Gregorio Luperón in Puerto Plata, with 169,925 and 56,892, respectively.
